Here is How You Can Help Victims of Palu’s Deadly Earthquake and Tsunami via Mekar
The 7.4-magnitude earthquake and tsunami that devastated Palu, Sigi and Donggala in Central Sulawesi last Friday claimed thousands of lives and injured many others. In the aftermath of the powerful earthquake that destroyed public facilities and homes, many of the survivors are now still without shelter and in dire need of humanitarian aid.
As volunteers work to rescue victims from the rubble and mud across the affected regions, there is something that you can do right now to help survivors rebuild their life.
Mekar has partnered with humanitarian charity Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT) to allow you to contribute to the relief effort in Palu while funding micro business loans on Mekar’s platform.
Here is how it works:
For every funding of at least IDR 10 million made between 5 and 20 October 2018, Mekar will donate the equivalent of 1% of your funding toward humanitarian aid that will help those affected by the disaster in Palu, Sigi and Donggala.
Thus, your funding will not only support the growth of micro businesses in Indonesia, but also provide monetary aid for disaster victims, doubling the positive impact your funds are creating.
See below examples of donation amount Mekar will make based on the amount of funding you make:
Mekar will make the donation to ACT on 25 October 2018. ACT will then distribute the funds to victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Palu, Sigi and Donggala, Central Sulawesi. ACT will issue an electronic proof of the donation from Mekar, which funders will also receive via email by the end of October.
