Temanggung – The development of innovation in Indonesia’s renewable energy sector continues to show positive progress through the opening of a new factory owned by PT Global Excel Trade (Grexel) in Temanggung, Central Java. This facility represents a concrete example of waste-to-energy technology utilization, transforming waste into high-value energy resources.
As a company operating in the waste-to-energy sector, Grexel processes wood waste and agricultural residues into wood pellets, one of the most efficient and environmentally friendly forms of biomass energy. Demand for this product continues to increase globally as awareness grows regarding the importance of reducing carbon emissions.
The new factory in Temanggung was designed to optimize the production process through a standardized technological approach, starting from raw material processing to producing consistent, high-quality final products. By utilizing local raw materials that were previously underutilized, Grexel delivers solutions that are not only innovative but also highly relevant to the needs of today’s energy industry.

This expansion further strengthens Grexel’s position after previously operating its production facility in Cirebon. The presence of the new factory is expected to significantly increase production capacity while expanding export market reach.
In its business development efforts, Grexel has also received support from Mekar Investama Teknologi in strengthening operational capabilities and supporting the company’s future business growth.
Mekar representative, Pandu Aditya Kristy, stated that the utilization of technology in waste processing is a strategic step in addressing energy and environmental challenges.
“We see waste-to-energy innovation such as the one developed by Grexel as a real solution in transforming waste challenges into energy opportunities. This is not only about industrial efficiency, but also about how technology can drive sustainability and create broader impacts,” said Pandu Aditya Kristy.
Grexel Director, Dwi Rosianto, added that innovation is the key driver behind the company’s business development.
“We continuously develop technological approaches to ensure every production process delivers added value, both in terms of efficiency and environmental impact. The Temanggung factory is part of our commitment to providing sustainable and globally competitive biomass energy solutions,” said Dwi Rosianto.
In addition to introducing technological innovation, the presence of this factory is also expected to generate positive impacts for surrounding communities through job creation and the strengthening of local resource-based supply chains.
With the opening of this facility, Grexel not only strengthens its production capacity but also reinforces its role as one of the industry players driving the transformation of waste into energy. Moving forward, the waste-to-energy model developed in Temanggung is expected to continue growing and contribute more broadly to Indonesia’s renewable energy industry.
